Path profile does not let me select a body

I have a relatively simple part i'm trying to make a profile cut of. when i select the profile cut on the toolbar, i am not prompted for a body. I already have two operations define (face mill and a pocket shape). There is no mechanism to select a body. I can select all the vertical faces on the object and that seems to work to create the profile, but i thought (from the videos i've watched) that i should be able to select the solid so that the facing operation. I'm doing these in the order i need them, face the material down to the final height, create a pocket (so i maintain good clamping) and then the profile to remove the part. Is there something I'm missing

Try selecting nothing at all. There is an (incorrect) error message, but it works.
