The minutes could probably be a bit more verbose.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

Yes. This is also very professional. We need more time to get to this level. A challenge is hereby the different time zones and that people have a family and a job. Therefore we cannot meet so often.
Concerning the meeting minutes, sometimes it is important to exchange opinions. Then in the aftermath people need to think about it and so on. So decisions need prior discussions and discussions need time. I mean everybody needs time for reflection. Were some other opinions right, was I wrong in some points, did I miss info, do wee need more info, do we only differ in the way to achieve our goal... In a company you have you weekly, you can add a mid-weekly meeting and this way even for tricky things make good decisions in short time. FreeCAD cannot do so, that a limitation we have to accept.

I don't know how you guys are taking notes, but maybe it would help to use something like Google docs so those who are listening can write down the notes during the meeting and everyone can read what was written. Or perhaps implement rotating shifts for the person taking notes. I find that it sometimes helps group processes to write down the consensus prior to moving on to the next agenda point. That way, you can be more sure everyone is on the same page, which also helps memorising the conversation. It's just an idea.

Just dropping this links here as somewhat related to the "human readability" of "non human readable" file / data formats...

For me, unfortunately, this whole toponaming thing starts to smell a bit like controlled failure, I'm afraid.

No visible progress since weeks and what has been done so far appears to be already threatened by bit rot (if you want to compile on Debian testing, you already need to cherry pick from the master branch because Python 3.11 is only supported there).
Integration will become even more difficult with each new commit to the main branch.

What needs to be done to achieve some progress?
Cheers,
Markus

The biggest problem is for me that the shared information is so sparse and few. And from the little info I can see, seems to me nobody seems to willing to make a leap to merge Realthunders work into the main codebase. I really don't see why. I read the comments and talks, still from outside where I sit, seems to me that Realthunder get just some new obstacle to work with before code could be accepted. (maybe this is just because I have not seen any information from RT about the last piece was a legitimate request or just another obstacle) :( No offense, this is what I see from the little info I gather from the forum and from https://blog.freecad.org/ there is a section with WIP Wednesday where you can see how doing what in FreeCAD regard to development. Event there I can't see much regard to toponaming like somebody testing, code reviewing, discussing about it. :( (yes I know there was a sentence or two about the last meeting before it)

There is a new "Company" called Ondsel (https://ondsel.com/) they also committed to make FreeCAD better. Here you can see a discussion about what would like to see the community as improvement in FreeCAD here: https://github.com/orgs/Ondsel-Developm ... cussions/1

From how I remember it was decided in the last meeting that:

- the last part of the TP naming should first be added to the TP testing branch before all of it would be merged to master
- that the file / data structure of ElementMap files should be documented

both of this was suggested and agreed also by realthunder

As usual, as time is scarce, probably developers are coding things, ironing our bugs and probably doing some more interesting thing that write down progress.

but if thing are so easy, see what one of FreeCAD founders were used to say:
jriegel wrote:"Stop whining - start coding!"
GitHub page: https://github.com/onekk/freecad-doc.
- In deep articles on FreeCAD.
- Learning how to model with scripting.
- Various other stuffs.

My intention was never to offend the developers. Most of the time - I imagine - they develop for "free". What I could think of is that if there is somebody here like Chris Hennes who started to write the WIP Wednesday (https://blog.freecad.org/) which is brilliant because through it I can see what had happened and what will happen in the near past and future with the FreeCAD development. So maybe more information could be channeled to Chris so the blog post could be more and more interesting with insights on the development's main doings.

I never dared to just think that developers are not busy people or don't care for their work here. My only intention was just to point out that maybe with a bit more information about such a big topic - time to time - could be helpful and at least I wouldn't lost hope to get TNP fixed in the near future.

Maybe I'm wrong as such I sincerely apologize.

Cheers.

For Krita, a group of users and part-time developers set out to create a communication group, which takes responsibility of making a weekly posts of the developments based on public notes of developer meetings and they also add the merged PRs in this post. Something like this would help improve FreeCAD's transparency over ongoing work for your average user. At least, it helps channel the information.
