Re: 'Update template field' ?

What are your thoughts about this tool? I think the most would as minimum the fields according ISO7200. Note that some fields like scale are explicit disallowed in the header, even some do this still. So the it must done in a way, when some fields in the template does not exists, that it does not f...

Re: Sketcher: Snapping to external edges automatically

While sketching you are able to snap and auto-constraint to external edges. You must consider, that you have several background while sketching. Here an example while i am working really now. 2024-03-27_23-41.png When it refers or snap automatic in the background, that would be very inconvenient. G...

Re: Pocket breaks body (faces glitch away and distort)

With a full recompute (e.g. mark all features in the body and right click and select mark to recompute, then recompute in the toolbar) it works here with (almost) 0.22main. Just said, even when it is a full parametric case, it is done in a way too complicated way. Lesser datums, just sketches direct...

Re: [REQ] This is a formal request to support the USD format

I am specifically referring to getting things, like gears or even complete mechanisms, from FreeCAD to Blender. That would also imply, that it contains constraints or at least affiliation. At least for constraints, i can say, that would not work overarching anyway not without workarounds. That does...

Re: [REQ] This is a formal request to support the USD format

Hard surface visual assets, typically, are real things like gears and such. For that you choose one of the many other formats (dae, 3mf, stl, obj, xhtml, glTF, 3dmax), an animation format is even for that not really suited. Probability step or plain brep is for that better, to mesh it direct and no...

Re: [REQ] This is a formal request to support the USD format

getting hard surface assets from CAD to somewhere were they are very useful in scenes that are then communicated with USD would seem more useful Without any searching, i am sure 10 other formats can do it either and probably better, besides why should someone make visual assets in FreeCAD. And when...

Re: [GSoC 2024] Improve FreeCAD Hidden Line Removal

HLR (TechDraw) is always good. The just said, the deviation in FreeCAD is not that slow anymore, even it is only one view. Of course it is not that fast as in commercial CADs, but the improvements from wandererfan already pretty impressive. Also due parallel computation on more then one views, it is...
