Re: Using PlaneGCS as the sketch constraint solver in SALOME

Hi
Are the stable development versions publicly available?
AFAIK, a version is either stable or development :).

Salome git repositories are mirrored on salome website:
http://git.salome-platform.org/gitweb/
You will get there the development version.

Re: FreeCAD vs Salome

Hi, I support first sentence of Jürgen: "Salome is an FEM Tool with some CAD and FreeCAD is a CAD with maybe some FEM in the Future." Basically, if you don't intend to setup a finite element calculation, there is no real point in using Salome as its aim is to produce meshes and analyse fin...

Re: Constraints and Parametric CAD in FreeCAD

Dear Werner and Jürgen,

Thank you very much for your answers which are clear!
I will have a look on this new feature very soon. Actually, I am waiting for the ticket 0000082: Intaller without admin to be solved before installing FreeCAD on my station :-(.

Bests,
Yoh

Re: Constraints and Parametric CAD in FreeCAD

Hi all, Please, I have some wonders about the current status of constraint management in FreeCAD? Most notably, from various posts, I understood that SketchSolve was under consideration for interfacing to FreeCAD. The following posts were indicating so: Constraint Solver for Freecad Sketcher However...

Re: surface reconstruction algorithm

Hi, Thank you very much for your answer! Do you know however if some OCC algorithms couldn't be used for some of this work? Maybe the skinning and lofting features presented in Roman blog here? http://opencascade.blogspot.com/2010/01/surface-modeling-part5.html Or perhaps more interesting, the platt...

surface reconstruction algorithm

Hello to all! I've heard that a surface reconstruction mecanism was implemented in FreeCAD (from a surfacic mesh, constructing a CAD surface like a big B-spline) and I would like to know more about this feature if that is possible. I have also seen this screenshot on the web: http://5axes.free.fr/Re...

Re: The DWG question

Hi Jürgen! Thanks for all these indications! I would like to point out the GMSH mesher which is quite good and which development team is very active. http://geuz.org/gmsh/ In addition, it can be used as a pre/post processor to Code_Aster. Also, its basic CAD module is based on OCC. It can thus read ...

Re: The DWG question

Thanks Werner, It now explains me why it is indeed important to know where is the thickness if you want to detect possible collision. Jürgen, you were indicating me that drawing only surface was not the best thing to do because for instance of DMU. What if one draws a surface representing one skin, ...

Re: The DWG question

Jürgen, You're using some terms I don't understand, most notably DMU: can you explain it or give some links to some examples? I have to say that in my job (I don't think it is really a specific job, but maybe...), there is no link to CAM. The thing is, CAD are used to draw parts and assemblies for F...

Re: The DWG question

Hi Werner, Ok, I see I should carry out additional trials. Just also to let you know that this subject was discussed in a google group which had not much activity these past months, but still gathers interesting information: http://groups.google.fr/group/open_cad_format So you may find additional da...
