Re: postprocess image data to get cad models
Inspired by a discussion in the german forum here is the elevation grid generator: Starting with some height information (example some points of my garden with knows position and height) i calculate a surface, that matches the control points and has one of the standard interpolation behaviours (lin...

Drafting of Technical Details for the Seed Eco-Home
We are finalizing CAD models of the Seed Eco-Home and are looking for draftspeople. See our designs at https://wiki.opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Home_v2_3D_CAD#Master_Files. We are looking for both paid workers and volunteers to draft details of the structure, electrical, and plumbing. It's prima...

Re: FreeCAD Benchmarking
Loads time is 15 secs on an iMac 5K 27 inch 2019 3.7GHz 6-intel core i5 It takes my RYZEN 5 3600 6-Core 3.6 GHz 2 minutes to load that on FreeCAD 16. In FreeCAD 19, the time is about 23 seconds. Are better algorithms being used in higher versions of FreeCAD compared to Legacy 16? Are the algorithms...

Looking for Architecture Design-Buidlers Who Use FreeCAD
We are generating build documentation for the Seed Eco-Home 2 - https://wiki.opensourceecology.org/wiki/Seed_Home_v2. We're looking to pay design-builders who use FreeCAD and are capable of generating design detail and build instructions for the detail. We use a panelized construction system that al...

Re: Addon manager problem
What is the latest on the status of Addon Manager? Do I read it correctly that it works in FreeCAD 19, so we should just use FreeCAD 19?

FreeCAD Benchmarking
Has anyone done FreeCAD benchmarking for the maximum number of parts in the part tree? I'm at 3600+ simple parts in the part tree for a sample benchmark file of house framing construction, and the file is 8M. At this point, load times are about a minute on a Ryzen 3600 desktop, and the view window i...

Re: Scaling a model for 3d Printing
Does Draft Clone work on meshes as well? I am trying to scale an OBJ import from SweetHome3D, but it appears that the only way to scale meshes is to convert them to shapes first in the Part workbench. The downside is that the mesh conversion process increses the file size by 5x or so. Is that so? So...

Re: BIM/Arch development news articles from Yorik's blog
Here is a simple full BOM generation pipeline using brute force methods - but completely workable pending proper manangement of part libraries and modules for complicated design. This is how we intent to generate full BOMs of the Seed Eco-Home 2 launching in 2021. The BOM generation workflow is this...
