Re: When working with 2 documents, unexpected switch from one to the other
Try sync view.... Thanks. That was the hint I needed to find the control. Under the top-level View menu select TreeView actions and then Collapse/Expand. Gene Thanks Gene, using "multi document" instead of "collect/expand" now at least no longer folds the tree unexpectedly as a ...

Re: When working with 2 documents, unexpected switch from one to the other
Try sync view.... https://wiki.freecad.org/images/3/3a/Std_TreeSyncView.svg You mean SynchView.png Nope, looks like the toolbar icon, the param "SyncView" and the preference "Auto switch to the 3d view containing the selected item" are all the same. When I set the param "Sy...

Re: When working with 2 documents, unexpected switch from one to the other
there is a way to turn off this "helper", but I cannot find the correct preference at this moment. Thank you for this suggestion Gene. Being able to use FreeCad on macOS as intended/designed, with multiple files in one instance/session, is actually what I am looking for. Nevertheless, I t...

Re: When working with 2 documents, unexpected switch from one to the other
Thanks, yes this is what I am doing already, running 20.2 and 21.0 in parallel.
Nevertheless, would you agree that this does not fix the issue?
And yes, I am familiar with this post Open two instances of FreeCad

Re: When working with 2 documents, unexpected switch from one to the other
Unfortunately the issue still exist and is very annoying as it breaks the workflow and introduces two additional steps every time to get back to where I was actually working on. At least in my case, it is not only the focus of the 3d view that get's switched. In addition the model tree of the file t...

Re: Changed default background color
Is a background preference option to switch the color gradient from vertical to horizontal to solve/mitigate the readability issue for FEM centric users feasible? See image below for an example
