Re: [Help] Temperature effect FEM (Unsure)

Yea there is very little deformation

Thank you for the verification :D

[Solved] Temperature effect FEM (Unsure)

I am trying to simulate a model (530 x 30 x 20 mm) sitting on a flat surface. With this simulation, I would like to see the elongation of the model when it increases from 20C to 21C. The conditions are: The bottom surface will be subjected to a 'heat source' of 21C. The surrounding temperature and i...

Re: [solved] Deflection result in FEM on a simply supported beam

Hi sorry, I'm trying to run a similar model and I can't seem to get my desired max deflection. Dimensions: 100 x 9 x 35mm Ix = 32156.25 mm4 Material: Graphite E = 11.7 MPa Density 1750kg/m3 I actually wanted to simulate self-weight and observe the deflection but for the purpose of replicating closel...

Re: [Help] FEM transient analysis

dinodano, you may give a look to the wiki https://wiki.freecadweb.org/FEM_Workbench#Tutorials are you aware that there are FEM embedded examples into FreeCAD? It can give you clues. https://wiki.freecadweb.org/FEM_Example_Capacitance_Two_Balls#Load_FEM_Workbench Oh I did not know such functions exi...

Re: [Help] FEM transient analysis

I checked this approach and it seems that it didn't work because you probably didn't save the input file after editing it. You have to use the FreeCAD's Save button (or Ctrl+S) to save the file and then click the Run CalculiX button. Oh! I just tried this! It worked after saving the file! Thank you...

Re: [Help] FEM transient analysis

you just have to place the ccx_static.exe file in the same folder as your input file, open the command line (type cmd in the address bar of Windows File Explorer) then type ccx_static input_file_name and hit Enter. Thank you so much for the help! I tried following the steps but I got this error whe...

Re: [Help] FEM transient analysis

How do you run this analysis - using CalculiX executable ? And then you open the .frd file in FreeCAD ? I set thermo mech steady state as false, click on SolverCcxTools, select thermomechanical, select write .inp file, select edit .inp file, make changes on the editor, select Run Calculix. Should I...

Re: [Help] FEM transient analysis

You just have to move part of the amplitude definition to next data line and it will work. There's a limit of entries in a single data line but you can always use multiple data lines in such cases. I tried giving each amplitude definition their own line but it does not seem to work. The temperature...

Re: [Help] FEM transient analysis

Hi, I don't think I am understanding the syntax of Calculix correctly. I appreciate all the help I can get :D I am trying to simulate a simple model undergoing length changes with fluctuating temperature. I've set the initial conditions to 300K and the thermo mechanical steady state as false with ti...

Re: [Help] FEM transient analysis

For this you will need more advanced postprocessing tools. You can convert the .frd file to .vtk and do the postprocessing in ParaView which is also open-source. May I ask how do I convert the file to .vtk for postprocessing? I tried using this macro to export: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DdT7...
