Re: How to modify an .STL file?
For anyone else that stumbles on this page, here's what worked for me using FreeCAD 0.19 (Instructions from http://pinter.org/archives/4255 ): - Create new document - Import STL (File --> Import) - Part workbench --> Create shape from mesh - Part workbench --> Shape builder... - Create shape, select...

Re: SOLVED: Can I create separate "slave" sketches that change parametrically when a root/master sketch is updated?
Ah, further testing has revealed that the slaves only update against the parameters I have already set. However, since I cannot delete sketches and replace them with new ones in my PartDesign objects (Pads, Pockets, etc.), this makes it easy to replace old sketches with new ones: simply CarbonCopy o...

Re: Problem with negative offset "Placement" in Building US units
I've always had problems with fractional units in FreeCAD (new user though). I learned to format it as "1 in / 2" (hit the equals (=) button to use an Expression) and I've never had any problems after formatting it that way. OS: Windows 8.1 (6.3) Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCA...

SOLVED: Can I create separate "slave" sketches that change parametrically when a root/master sketch is updated?
SOLVED: Use the Sketcher CarbonCopy feature. Copies the entire sketch and updates the copies when the master changes. ORIGINAL POST: I hope the title is clear enough. Here's a picture of what I'm working on: sketch.png The question is about the circle-slot pockets on the edges of the part. I realiz...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench
This is a well known problem. Search the Forum for "topological naming". The key developers are feverishly working to solve it. Oh, that is the topological naming problem in action? Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't understand the nature of the problem. I saw an example given of the ...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench
Does anyone know of a solution to the following problem: When I modify a sketch, my LCS mappings for that part get messed up. Many small changes to my sketches alter the values of my Edges, Vertices, etc. This causes my assemblies to realign to a new place since the value of (for example) Edge23 has...

Re: Printing in actual size
I always export my stuff as .stl's and I've never had any problems: 1. Select the body or the feature in the combo/tree view. 2. File --> Export (Or press Ctrl + E) 3. Save as type --> STL Mesh 4. Open in your favorite slicer and print. This has always resulted in 100% accurate STLs for me. Hope thi...
