Is it possible to use eg. Zemax .DAT files or Photopia files for ray tracing or is it too difficult? No. Only CSV export is supported. You have to convert to a special format yourself. I think some kind of illumination plot would be nice, like the bottom graph, but extended to 2D. However, in this case, probably the way rays are made should be modified, and not in python, because it would need a lot more rays. I have one concern, when I go to cut out physical parts I'm concerned I might need a little tolerance for them to fit together during assembly.
